Authorities are seeking a San Antonio man who has been on the run from police for the past four years, and the DPS has increased the reward offered for information leading to his arrest to $10,000.

Rene Morales Munoz, 43, is a member of the Texas Mexican Mafia gang. The Mexican Mafia, also known as Mexikanemi, is a criminal gang whose members actively engage in criminal activity, including homicide, aggravated assault, extortion, home invasions, and smuggling/trafficking.

Munoz has an extensive criminal history and often engaged in fighting while in custody. He has been convicted of possession of cocaine three times. His third conviction led to a 13-year sentence. He was released under mandatory supervision to a halfway house in San Antonio in 2005.

Shortly after that, he was arrested for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and then released on his own recognizance. Munoz later absconded from the halfway house and committed a murder in Frio County. He has been on the run ever since, and was added to the Top 10 Most Wanted list in 2007.

Munoz also goes by the nicknames Red, Colorado and Rene. He has the following tattoos on his body: a skull with hat and the word “MUNOZ” on his upper right arm; Freddie Kruger and El Red on his upper left arm; female figure on the right side of his chest; a face on the left side of his chest; theatre faces inside his right leg and a coyote on his left shoulder.
