GRAYTOWN -- Deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an apparent homicide that occurred in a home near the intersection of F.M. 2579 and Mariana Road south of here. Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. confirmed that this is the county’s first such incident for 2011.

Tackitt said a man re-ported returning to the home he and the victim shared just after 1 a.m. Feb. 15. Inside, he reported finding the body of his friend -- a 57-year-old male -- lying in a pool of blood.

Tackitt said the name of the victim is being withheld until next-of-kin is notified. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the victim’s cause of death. Tackitt said the man appears to have been stabbed.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535 or Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636). Crime Stoppers tips, which remain anonymous, can also be given at http://www.wilsoncountycrimestoppers.com.
