Emil J. Waclawczyk, 85, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011. He was born June 24, 1925, in Kosciusko, Texas. He was the son of Theodore Waclawczyk and Margaret Bronder in a family of nine brothers and four sisters.

Emil was a veteran of World War II as a Marine rear gunner on a B-25 aircraft and served 39 years in the U.S. Postal Service. He was an active member of the St. Mary Magdalen Parish in San Antonio. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, and was an avid Spurs fan. His favorite saying was “Behave yourself,” generally spoken in Polish. Rest in peace, said family members.

He was preceded in death by his infant children, Marybeth, Mary Kay, Michael James, Sharon, and Cheryl Lynn; and his grandson, Michael Paul Huth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lucy Bernice Janysek; his daughters, Margaret Lee Huth and Cheryl Anne Waclawczyk; his son, Gerard Emil of North Carolina; his grandson, Robert Huth and wife Laura Marie; and his great-grandchildren, Christopher Hammond and Haley Marie Huth.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. in the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in San Antonio with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the San Fernando Cemetery No. 2.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
