Jeff and Christine Volkmann of La Vernia, Texas, are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Amy, to Artie Arredondo of La Vernia, the son of Art and Yvette Arredondo of Adkins.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Alex and Joyce Schaefer of St. Hedwig.

Amy is a 2005 graduate of Canyon High School, and a 2009 graduate of Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She is currently employed with the La Vernia Independent School District as an eighth-grade English teacher.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Elsa Arredondo and Ydalia Montelongo of San Antonio.

Artie is a 2004 graduate of La Vernia High School. He is currently pursuing a degree in business marketing from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. He works at Surlean Foods as a micro-lab supervisor.

The couple will be married on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in the St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo, with a reception to follow in the Bexar Social Hall in Marion.
