Johnnie Edward Cook Sr., 64, of Smiley, Texas, died in his home on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011. He was born in Dallas County on Oct. 4, 1946, to Johnnie Ewell and Orpha Martin Cook. He worked many jobs in his life and was a master at them all. He married Fannie Jane Shuler in San Antonio on Aug. 24, 1976.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Lonnie James Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Fannie Jane Cook of Smiley; his sons, Johnnie Edward Cook Jr. of Nixon and John Douglas Silkey of San Antonio; his daughters, Alice Jane Silkey, Jeanette Freeman, and Rhonda Kaye Vincent, all of San Antonio; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a family friend, Terry Espinoza of San Antonio.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
