Mary Ann Egloff Boyden, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at 10:38 a.m. in her residence in Floresville at the age of 69 years and 26 days.

Mary Ann was born Jan. 19, 1942, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Robert and Evelyn Kehoe Egloff. She married James Boyden on Aug. 13, 1960, in South Corning, N.Y.

Mary Ann was very proud of her military service, earning full retirement after many years of a faithful career with the U.S. Army, where she was awarded 1986 Military Woman of the Year. Two of Mary Ann’s favorite hobbies were gardening and swimming.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Kehoe Egloff; and her nephew, Jeffrey Strobel.

She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, James Boyden; her father, Robert Egloff; her daughters, Julia Carter and Joann Bernhart and husband Bill; her grandchildren, Biranda Eddy and husband Ryan, DeAnna Carter, and Erik, Kathryn, and Lucas Bernhart; her great-grandchild, Haley Eddy; her sister, Jean Strobel and husband Don; and her nieces, Melissa Rice and husband Dan, and Patricia Chapman and husband Scott.

A memorial funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville with Pastor Gordon Lindley officiating.
