Mary Alice Valadez McVay passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, in Poth, Texas, at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 4 days. She was born in Poth on Feb. 28, 1943, and was a lifelong resident of Poth.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo Valadez and Nicoleasa Pineda; and her brother, Richard Valadez.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney McVay of Poth; her daughters, Norma J. Lopez of Kosciusko and Yolanda Perez of Poth; her sisters, Mary Ann Sparrow, Sheila Morales, and Irene Castillo, all of San Antonio; her brothers, Adolfo Valadez, Arnold Valadez, and Joe Valadez, all of San Antonio, Paul Valadez Jr. of Floresville, and Manuel Valadez of Alaska; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 6, from 5-9 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Church Cemetery in Poth.

Pallbearers were Eric Perez, John Delgado, Andrew Morales, Freddie Silva, Richard Valadez, and Gabriel Valadez.
