Offer condolences

Dorothy Drzymala Keller Cook, 84, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. She was born on May 3, 1926, in Wilson County, Texas, to Andrew and Martha (Kopecki) Drzymala.

Dorothy Keller Cook always wanted to be a nurse. First came marriage and six daughters. Then she started her career as a nurse’s aide at the Floresville Memorial Hospital. She fulfilled her dream by receiving her LVN license. After 25 years at the hospital, she continued her career at the Stockdale Nursing Home. She retired in her 70s. She enjoyed oil painting and crocheting blankets for her great-grandbabies. She will be remembered as a concerned caregiver to her family and community.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joe Keller; her second husband, James Cook; and her three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her children, Elaine Carter Knight, Yvonne Truxaw and husband Harry, Louise Beardsley and husband Bill, Irene Denkeler, JoAnn Riley and partner Myrle Stewart, and Verna Gorzell and husband Terry.

She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 6-7 p.m. with the rosary beginning at 7 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

Mass was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the church with Father Gregory Sawicki of the Holy Trinity Church in Falls City officiating.

Interment followed in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Kosciusko.

Memorial contributions may be made by way of Mass cards.
