SAN ANTONIO -- After suffering a 67-42 bi-district loss to the Taft Raiders last Monday evening, the 2010-11 basketball season has officially ended for the East Central Hornets.

The bi-district matchup began very slowly for East Central, as the Hornets managed just 3 points in the first period of play, while Taft lit up the scoreboard for 23 points. The second period wasn’t much better for East Central either, as the Hornets were outscored 22-9, and went into halftime trailing the Raiders 45-12.

Things were a bit different in the third period, as the Raiders were held to 12 points, and East Central added another 9. Still, things were looking bleak for the black and gold as they moved into the game’s final stanza trailing 57-21.

East Central doubled its game points in the final period, adding another 21 points to the board. Unfortunately for the Hornets, it wasn’t enough to overcome Taft, and the Raiders added another 10 in the period for good measure. As the final buzzer sounded, it was all Taft, as the Raiders picked up the 67-42 victory.

Jermaine Dotson led the Hornets with 8 points, followed by Efrain Solis with 7 points, and Ceddrick Ali with 6.

The Hornets experienced an up-and-down season, earning some big wins, while also suffering some difficult losses along the way. East Central finished its District 28-5A season with a 5-5 record to make the playoffs, and finished the year with an overall record of 13-18.
