Jaguars win SAISD consolation trophy
It hasn’t been perfect, but after winning the consolation bracket at the San Antonio Independent School District Tournament, and putting together a 5-1 early record to its season, the Floresville Jaguar varsity softball team is off to a pretty good start.
The Jaguars began play in the SAISD tourney against Laredo Cigarroa. Floresville easily won the game 12-3, and advanced to face Harlandale. While the Jags gave it a good effort, Floresville came up a little short, falling to the Lady Indians, 2-0. The loss moved the Jags into the consolation bracket, but play continued from there.
The first team they encountered was Providence, and the Jags made short work of the team, pounding out a 13-0 win. Megan Routh, Dana Guerra, Kasey Tieken, and Kaitlin Montoya each finished the game with 2 RBIs. Floresville then moved on to face Incarnate Word High School, and the Jaguars picked up another win, this time by the score of 3-1.
With a 3-1 tournament record, the Jaguars found themselves in the consolation championship game with Brackenridge. Floresville quietly took care of business, though, and returned home with a 3-0 win and the consolation championship.
