ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Marilyn Davis Byrd, 65, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in her home in Nixon, Texas. She was born in Nixon on Dec. 9, 1945. Marilyn was the former city secretary/administrator for the city of Nixon and a member of the Leesville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Conley “J.C.” and Armour (Littlefield) Davis; a daughter, Chandra Koenig; and her sister, Gwynel Hartsell.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, John D. “Pete” Byrd of Nixon; two daughters, Wendy Dietrich and husband Derrick of Fredericksburg and Kendra Wuest and husband Jason of Stockdale; two step-sons, Chris Byrd and wife Heidi of College Station and Josh Byrd of Austin; her brother, Jim Ed Davis and wife Margaret of Nixon; three grandchildren, Dax Dietrich, Karlee Wuest, and Teagen Wuest; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation took place Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Jack Shuford and the Rev. Jim Kennedy officiating.

Interment followed in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon.

Serving as pallbearers were Charles Mahan, Malcolm Talley, Verne Colwell, Darrell Morrow, Scott Hartsell, and Duane Hartsell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Guadalupe Regional Hospice, 1215 East Court St., Seguin, TX 78155, or to the American Cancer Society.
