ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Jewel Evelyn Fox passed away on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Carrizo Springs.

She was the seventh child of Thomas Richard and Pearlie Ann (Petty) Fielder. She had nine half-sisters and -brothers. The family moved to San Antonio when she was 11 years old.

She met her husband, Bob Fox, when she was 18 and they were married on New Year’s Eve in 1952. They lived in San Antonio until the children were grown and then moved to New Berlin near their daughter. She had 21 years of peace and quiet in this pretty area and was happy to be near her family.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Bob; and many siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Stewart and husband Terry; her sons, Micah Fox, Jeffrey Fox and wife Carol, and Johnny Sing; her grandchildren, Amy Stewart, Jason and Julie Stewart, Jessica Fox Castillo, and Stefan Fincias; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Castillo and Jordan Stewart; her sister, Mary Fielder Bloxham; her brother-in-law, Albert Fox and wife Mary; her sisters-in-law, Pat Fox, Jonel Williams, and Alice Fielder; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation took place on Thursday, Feb. 24, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment took place Monday, Feb. 28, at 9:30 a.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
