Althea LaVelle Ingle, 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, surrounded by her children. She was born in Horatio, Ark., on Aug. 19, 1930.

LaVelle attended Glover High School in Crockett, Texas, and graduated at the age of 16 in 1947. She spent her life working to unselfishly provide for her family. She was very loving to all and never met a stranger. She enjoyed playing any type of game with her many friends and family and played to win.

LaVelle was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook. She was well-known at the church for her cornbread dressing that she made during the holidays, always at the request of her church family. The joy of LaVelle’s life were her two sons, whom she doted on with pride, knowing she raised them to be responsible husbands and fathers.

LaVelle was a longtime member of the Methodist church. Her faith in God carried her through the hard times she faced in her lifetime. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

LaVelle was preceded in death by her parents, George and Etta (Patton) Walker; and her sister, Bessie Roach.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Ingle and wife Brenda and Jim Ingle and wife Sandra; her grandchildren, Scott Ingle, Jamie Thibodeaux, and Ryan and Sean Ingle; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service took place on Monday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Harlandale Methodist Church in San Antonio. Pastor Carlos Gonzalez and Pastor Harry Kahl officiated.
