The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will work directly under the Border Prosecution Unit Initiative dedicated to Human Trafficking/Human Smuggling. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years prosecutorial experience and extensive felony trial experience. Martha Mills, 91, passed away on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. Martha was born in San Antonio on July 30, 1919, to John F. Michel and Mary Sosa. She was a lifelong resident of Floresville and Wilson County, and a member of the Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. “Jay” Mills; her parents; her son, Lester Mills; her grandson, Mark Allen; a sister-in-law, Ida Mae Mills; and her sister, Marie Hagan.

Martha is survived by her daughters, Dixie Killian and husband Jerry of La Vernia, Patty West and husband Alton of Bulverde, Ruth Allen and Jerry Scheel of New Braunfels, and Martha Sarver of Floresville; and her son, Don Mills and wife Vickie of Floresville. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Sellers of Beeville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a prayer service were held Sunday, Feb. 20, from 6-9 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning, celebrant.

Interment followed in the Harper Cemetery in Stockdale. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Joe West, Mike Allen, Jay Mills, Jason Mills, Max Sarver, and Brandon Kneupper.
