Jags host tourney, finish 3-3
The Floresville Jaguar softball team celebrates its first-place finish in the Harlandale ISD Tournament. The Jaguars defeated Harlandale 3-2 in the final game to capture the title. Victoria Bayer was named as the tournament MVP, and Candy Talamantez and Dana Guerra received all-tournament honors.
FLORESVILLE -- After beginning their week with an 8-4 win over the Poth Pirettes, members of the Floresville Jaguar softball team then hosted a tournament March 3-5.
The Jags began tournament play Thursday with a win, knocking off McCollum by the score of 4-1. The Jaguars then won a tiebreaker, after finishing regulation play in a 3-3 tie with Uvalde.
With a 2-0 tournament record, Floresville resumed play on Friday, but fell to Clemens, 6-3. The Jaguars found a way to rally back, though, and got their bats working against Orange Grove, as they picked up a big 10-2 victory.
The Jags didn’t have a good last day to their tournament, though, as Floresville dropped two games. The day began with a narrow 9-7 loss to Goliad, and finished with a 10-0 loss to Harlandale.
Floresville is scheduled to compete at East Central this Saturday, March 12, and will begin district play Tuesday, March 15, as the Jaguars host Gregory-Portland.
