BOERNE -- Early registration for the Cibolo Nature Center’s Nature Camp and Art Camp is under way through Tuesday, May 31.

Nature Camp and Art Camp are state-licensed camps that provide children ages 6 to 12 with an opportunity for up-close, hands-on nature education and a chance to experience creating art based on the beauty of the outdoors. Both camps are held amid the Cibolo Nature Center’s 162-acre nature preserve bordered by Cibolo Creek in Boerne.

Each of the Cibolo Nature Center’s summer camps takes place for five days with seven sessions in June and July. Session topics vary. Weekly sessions will include “Creek week,” “Rowdy reptiles,” “Things with wings,” “Cibolo Native Americans,” “Something’s fishy,” “Nature trackers,” and “Water week.”

Art Camp will encourage a comfortable, creative, and fun environment in which children will learn to develop techniques and skills using various media with inspiration from the natural world. Weekly topics will be “Take a walk with a line,” “Deep in the art of Texas,” “Color your summer,” “Tell your story,” “Discovery-scape,” “The art explorers,” and “Contemporary collage craze.” Art supplies are included in registration fees.

Scholarships may be applied for through the Campers on the Creek scholarship program.

Camp registration packets and scholarship applications are available online at www.cibolo.org/campoverview or by calling 830-249-4616.

The Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne is located at the Boerne City Park off S.H. 46 just west of the Kendall County Fairgrounds.
