This Saturday, March 12, at 9 p.m. (Central Time), the Discovery Channel is scheduled to give the public an inside look at the state’s efforts to fight transnational gangs and drug cartels at the Texas border.

The show, titled “Texas Drug Wars” focuses on the Texas Rangers Reconnaissance Team, DPS Aviation and SWAT, Highway Patrol and Criminal Investigation Division agents as they work with local, state and federal agencies and Texas Military Forces to meet the increasing threat posed by vicious cartels and gangs who are determined to transport illegal drugs into the U.S.

“DPS, working with our state, local and federal partners as part of a statewide unified effort, has taken unprecedented steps to protect Texas from an insidious threat,” said DPS Director Steven C. McCraw. “This show, which records our brave men and women of law enforcement as they conduct dangerous border operations, gives the citizens of Texas and the nation an opportunity to witness the daily fight to keep them safe.”
