PLEASANTON -- Members of the Stockdale Lady Brahma track and field team competed in the Brush Country Invitational Meet March 5 in Pleasanton.

In addition to Stockdale, the meet included a number of teams, including those from Pleasanton, Medina Valley, Poteet, Pearsall, Marion, and Jourdanton.

In junior varsity competition, the 4x100-meter relay team of Kayleigh Wagnon, Lacy Dugi, Bailey Marshall, and Amberly From finished fourth. Vanessa Bustamante finished fourth in the discus, and Alyssa Alsobrook finished fifth in the triple jump.

On the varsity side of things, Erika Donsbach earned the Lady Brahmas’ top finish with a silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 16.45. Donsbach also medaled in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing third to grab bronze with a time of 50.76.

Whitney Mitchell finished behind Donsbach in the 300-meter hurdles to finish fourth with a time of 52.47. Alyssa May finished sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 30 feet, 9-3/4 inches, and Katelyn Shaver finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.63.

“The girls competed well,” said Coach Liz Henning. “They are working hard every day to improve times, jumps, and throws. We made individual and team goals at the beginning of our season and each meet we are getting closer to setting them.”

Both the Brahmas and Lady Brahmas were scheduled to be in action at the Poth meet this past weekend.
