Three Poth powerlifters competed at the girls Regional Powerlifting meet in Calallen on March 5 and will compete at state March 19.

Jessica Coronado finished seventh in her class and qualified for the state powerlifting meet by totaling 745 pounds, exceeding her qualifying total of 685 pounds. Coronado lifted 310 pounds on squat, bench pressed 125 pounds, and had a deadlift of 310 pounds.

Daniella Noguez finished sixth in her class and qualified for the state meet by totaling 745 pounds, exceeding her qualifying total of 735 pounds. Noguez lifted 300 pounds on squat and 135 pounds on bench press, and had a deadlift of 310 pounds.

Antoniette Price finished 10th in her class and qualified for the state meet, equaling her qualifying total of 745 pounds. Price lifted 285 pounds on squat, bench pressed 150 pounds, and had a deadlift of 310 pounds.

“This is the first time Poth powerlifting has sent three girls to state,” Coach Timothy Bordovsky said. “They are all great kids and have worked extremely hard this year.”

Bordovsky said after the regional meet the girls realized they could have done better, and they have worked hard this past week to prepare for the state meet which will be held in the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on Saturday, March 19.
