Raymond A. Martinez of Floresville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2011, in Floresville at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 9 days. He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Floresville.

Raymond was a member of several trail riders organizations and was a Vietnam veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Amador Martinez Sr.; his brothers, Amador Martinez Jr., Vidal Martinez, and Abel Martinez.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sylvia Martinez; his children, Margaret Narro and husband Jeremy of Floresville, Steven Martinez and wife Kimberly of Poth, and Michael Martinez and wife Nelis of San Antonio; his sisters, Mary Lou Martinez of Austin and Aurora Martinez of San Antonio; his brothers, Euesebio Martinez Sr. of Floresville, Eloy Martinez of Michigan, David Martinez of Houston, Leandro Martinez of San Antonio, and Arthur Martinez of Floresville; and his grandchildren, Sidney, Tiffany, Shirley, and Michael Martinez, Jeremy Narro Jr., and Sylvia Emily Narro.

A visitation was held on Sunday, March 6, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. A rosary was recited on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A Mass was celebrated on Monday at 3 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Picosa-Martinez Cemetery in Wilson County.

Pallbearers were Phillip Martinez, Billy Martinez, Victor Martinez, John Estrada, Dennis Sournier, and Lynn Baker.
