Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Teresa A. Montez, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 9:18 a.m. in her residence in Floresville, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 18 days.

Teresa was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Dewees, the daughter of Dionicio and Aurelia Salazar Aranda. She loved flowers, sewing, and dancing, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Teresa especially enjoyed cooking for her family and taking care of her grandchildren.

Teresa married Santana R. Montez on April 24, 1946, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Teresa is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Santana R. Montez; her children, Santana A. Montez and wife Dora, Henry Montez and wife Otillia, Irene Castellano and husband Armando, and Louis Montez; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Alejos Aranda Sr.

Visitation was held Friday, March 11, at 4 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Father Phillip Henning.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Montez, Dennis Montez, Joseph Montez, Adan Montez, Rene Castellano, and Ray Cruz. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Raymond Contreras Jr., Armando Guevara, Nicholas Cruz, Ryan Contreras, Paul Herrera IV, and Andrew Herrera.
