Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Elizabeth Ames Jones testifies before the US House Natural Resources Full Oversight Committee on Obama’s Permitorium
Washington, D.C.--Elizabeth Ames Jones, Chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, appeared before the House Committee on Natural Resources on Wednesday, March 16 at 9:00 am Central Daylight Time. Jones, testifying at the invitation of Committee Chairman Rep. Doc Hastings (R-WA), cited the impact of President Obama's de facto ban on offshore drilling on the Texas economy and on America's domestic energy supply.
“Americans are faced yet again with another round of increasing oil prices and the accompanying household budget crunches that come with higher gasoline prices and then the inevitable increases in the cost of everything else, like groceries. Being on the brink of recovery from the recession, this is the worst time for economy-weary Americans to have to put another notch in their belts,” Jones said.
“What is on my mind today is the oil that is under the Gulf of Mexico, the American jobs that it takes to drill and produce that oil, the American families and businesses that need it, and the federal coffers that could surely use the royalties and lease bonuses - now more than ever. My contention is that we have a moral duty to Americans to develop these resources," she said.
“By offering regulatory certainty partnered with environmental protections and establishing a culture that truly understands what it means to appreciate and utilize our region’s mineral assets, we can provide an economic engine that promotes ingenuity, prosperity and growth,” said Jones.
The archived Committee hearing, including Jones’ testimony, will be made available on the event webpage: http://naturalresources.house.gov/Calendar/List.aspx.

She lends her insight and voice to a wide range of conservative issues in Texas and nationally.
