Karnes/Wilson Juvenile Probation Department is seeking the following positions: Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. Position is year round supervising juvenile offenders, making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Attendance/Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. The Attendance Officer works same hours as the school districts providing prevention services to children and parents who have issues with truancy. Juvenile Probation Officer will manage a small caseload of juvenile offenders making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Position is year round.  Individual must be versatile and able to separate prevention from intervention skills. Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor within the environment of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Follows JJAEP school calendar. This is a quasi-military program, so prior military experience a plus. Degreed individual preferred with experience working with children. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or be able to obtain the certification. Administrative Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor but takes on administrative assistant role to the Assistant Chief within the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Position will include direct contact with the child and parent. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or able to obtain. Prefer degreed individual. Must have knowledge of military procedures. Junior high Beavers run at Poth Relays

POTH -- The Falls City Junior High School Beaver track and field teams competed this past week at the Poth Pirate Junior High Relays.

The seventh-grade Beavers scored 109 points in their division, and the eighth-grade team scored 67 in its division.

In seventh-grade competition, Chase Ramsey finished in a first-place tie in the high jump, while teammate Conner Dziuk finished fourth in the event. Ramsey earned a third-place medal in the triple jump, and Jacob Pruski finished fifth. Kaleb Hons finished first in the pole vault for Falls City, and Zach Jimerson rounded out the scoring in field events with his fifth-place finish.

On the track, Ramon Gutierrez finished second in the 2,400-meter run, while Gabe Jimerson finished just behind him in third. Hons and Gutierrez finished third and sixth, respectively, in the 1,600-meter run; and Hons and Zach Jimerson finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Dziuk finished second in the 400-meter dash, and Dayton Jaskinia took home gold in the 300-meter hurdles.

In relay competition, Dziuk, Ramsey, Kyle Bronder, and Jaskinia finished third in the 4x100-meter race; Bronder, Pruski, Ramsey, and Hons finished fifth in the 4x200-meter event; and Dziuk, Ramsey, Jaskinia, and Joseph Swierc finished third to win bronze in the 4x400-meter relay.

In eighth-grade competition, Cody Houdmann finished second in the high jump to win a silver medal, and Jeremiah Corey had a strong showing in the triple jump to finish fourth. Houdmann won a gold medal with his first-place finish in the pole vault, and teammate Joseph Swierc finished sixth in the same event.

Swierc went on to win a gold medal in the 800-meter run, and Corey finished fifth to earn the Beavers some points. Swierc won a second gold medal with his first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, Corey grabbed bronze in third, and Houdmann just missed the podium with his fourth-place finish.

The Beavers also took a strong relay team to the meet, as Swierc, Houdmann, Ryan Pawelek, and Corey teamed up to win a bronze medal in the 4x400-meter race.
