The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will work directly under the Border Prosecution Unit Initiative dedicated to Human Trafficking/Human Smuggling. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years prosecutorial experience and extensive felony trial experience. Robert “Bob” Allen Hilburn, 68, of Pleasanton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011, in Pleasanton, Texas. Bob was born Feb. 6, 1943, to Emmitt N. and Virginia Doris Hilburn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia “Judy” Hilburn, on March 4, 2011; his parents; his granddaughter, Cortnie Shayne McMillan; his son-in-law, H. Lewis Thrasher; and brothers-in-law Bill “Uppie” Upton, Fred Southern, and James Griffen.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Doris Marie Hilburn and fiancé John Young of Pleasanton; and his son, Robert N. Hilburn of Pleasanton. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Marion Upton of George West, Barbara Southern of Seguin, Arlene Sweeney and husband Gerald of Waxahachie, Kendall Hilburn and wife Marion of Jourdanton, and Norman Hilburn and wife Elsey of Seguin; his grandchildren, Amber Hilburn, Brittany Hilburn, Trent Thrasher, and Ryan Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, March 21, from 2-8 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. The family received friends Monday from 5-8 p.m.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Pearsall City Cemetery in Pearsall.
