Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Dominga Cedillo Guerra, a resident of Houston, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 12:15 a.m. in Houston at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 26 days.

Dominga was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Hobson to Manuel and Serapia Guerra Cedillo. She enjoyed sewing and cooking, working on photo albums, and being outdoors. Dominga married Louis Guerra Sr. on June 22, 1942, in Falls City. Louis, Dominga’s beloved husband of more than 60 years, preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Maria Del Refugio; and her infant twins.

Dominga is survived by her sons, Louis Guerra Jr., Raymond Guerra and wife Mary, Gilbert Guerra and wife Cristina, and Jack Guerra; her grandchildren, Barbara, Glenn, Lori, Raymond II, Sonia, Vicki, Raelyn, Sylvia, Jennifer, Krystal, Gabriela, Genevive, and Roxann; her 24 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Arturo Cedillo and Willie Cedillo; and her sisters, Anita Flores and Estella Labus.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, March 15, at 5 p.m., and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Guerra II, Michael Guerra, Frank Guerra, Harley Guerra, Gracie Granados, and Vicente Guerra.
