The Floresville Tigers opened District 30-4A baseball action with a 4-0 victory over the Beeville Trojans last Friday evening in Floresville. With the victory, the Tigers improved their season record to 12 wins and 7 losses.

The Tigers’ first two runs were scored in the third inning as both Robert Silva and Roy Silva reached base on walks and advanced to second and third on a passed ball. Cole Allen hit a high pop-up in the infield, which was misplayed by the Trojan infielders as both runners scored for the Tigers. In the fifth inning, Micah Clements reached base on a walk and scored on an infield single by Robert Silva. The Tigers added one more run in the sixth inning as Garrett Pollok received a walk and came around to score on a hard-hit triple by Clements to deep right field.

The Tigers got a great pitching performance by Isiah Guerrero as he pitched the entire game allowing no runs, only three hits, and struck out 10 Trojan batters. Clements was the Tiger catcher. Offensively, the Tigers had only three hits by Robert Silva, Clements, and Tre Watts in the contest; however, they did reach base nine times on walks.

Defensively, the Tigers had only one error and turned a double play in the second inning from Allen to Pollok to Watts.

The next two games will be at Port Lavaca and Gregory-Portland, while the next home contest will be on Friday, April 8, against Victoria West.

Izaiah Guerrero did a great job on the mound. In the S.A. Newspaper this week he is #1 in strike out count and #3 in wins. Way to go Tigers!!!
