ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Gertrude Mutz Pierdolla, 76, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. She was born May 23, 1934, in Falls City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Carnelia (Pawelek) Mutz; and her husband, John Pierdolla Jr. Gertrude is survived by her children, Deborah Scogin and husband Tommy of La Vernia, Joey Pierdolla and wife Joy of La Vernia, Kathy Markgraf and husband Rick of La Vernia, and Jimmy Pierdolla and wife Kim of La Vernia; her grandchildren, Spencer Freeman and wife Sherice, Logan Freeman and wife Stephanie, Cody Pierdolla and fiancée Eryn Larrison, Courtney Pierdolla and Jeff Plain, Mindi Scogin, Chance Markgraf, Brier Markgraf, Colby Pierdolla, and Corey Pierdolla; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Derek, Raelene, Ariel, and Ava Freeman; her sisters, Elaine Polasek and husband James, and Minnie Gilmore; her brother, Norman Mutz and wife Phyllis; her sisters-in-law, Ruby Lee Pierdolla, Adeline Pierdolla, and Dorothy Mutz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation took place Thursday, March 24, from 2-9 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in La Vernia with Father Stan Fiuk officiating.

Interment followed in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Hedwig.

Donations may be made by way of Mass cards.
