Our beautiful mother and grandmother, May Helen McDonald Connally, passed into eternal rest and peace on Monday, March 21, 2011. She was born Aug. 12, 1921.

Helen grew up in Floresville, Texas, and married her high school sweetheart, Edward L. Connally, who preceded her to heaven in 2009 after 69 years together. They moved to San Antonio where Helen worked for Southwestern Bell, retiring after nearly 30 years. She was a member of the Mayfield Park Baptist Church.

Helen was smart, strong, loving, gracious, and feisty, and the anchor of the family. She will always be missed and remembered for her unfailing support and love.

Those who will miss her wit, smile, and love are Barbara Connally, Sharon Latimer and husband Gerald, Michael Connally and wife Betty, Patrick Connally, and Timothy Connally and wife Melissa. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, March 23, from 5-7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Mayfield Park Baptist Church in San Antonio with the Rev. John Payne and the Rev. Mike Sutton officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville with her seven grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to Mayfield Park Baptist Church, 700 W. Hutchins Place, San Antonio, TX 78221.
