Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Delia Martinez-Burnett of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in Floresville at the age of 53 years, 3 months, and 19 days. She was born on Dec. 4, 1957, in Lubbock.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mike H. Martinez; her brother, Mike S. Martinez Jr.; and her niece, Katryna Courvier.

Delia is survived by her husband, James Robert Burnett of La Vernia; her mother, Amelia Saldana Martinez; her daughter, Danan and husband Manuel DeLeon Jr; her stepchildren, Cynthia Ann Cummins and Daniel Ray Burnett; her sisters, Rosanne Urena and husband Chevy, and Linda Ortiz and husband Juan; her brothers, Jose Pilar Martinez and wife Ofelia, Armando Martinez and wife Adrianna, David Martinez and wife Cindy, and Xavier Martinez and wife Norma; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Friday, March 25, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Pallbearers were Paul Anthony Ortiz, Jesse Courvier, Xavier Martinez Jr., Michael Martinez III, Jose Martinez Jr., and Jason Ferrar.
