Offer condolences

Clarence T. “Bud” Huwe of Runge, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was born to Fred M. and Emma Dittmann Huwe on Oct. 4, 1926, in Perham, Minn. Clarence married Fran Kmiecik on June 7, 1954, in Alexandria, Va. He was a retired lieutenant of the U.S. Navy, having served 28-1/2 years during World War II, Vietnam, and Korea. He was a former commander of the Runge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9189 and a former commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars District No. 24. He served as the mayor of the city of Runge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Violet Dairmont and Darlene Hutchinson; and his brothers, Robert, James, and Lawrence Huwe.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Fran Huwe of Runge; his daughter, Lynn Buehring and husband Shelby of Karnes City; his son, Lawrence J. Huwe and wife Carol of Corpus Christi; his stepdaughters, Marie Clark and April Kularski, both of Ware, Mass.; his sisters, Delaine O’Hara of Tacoma, Wash., Dorothy Frank of Bagley, Minn., and Evelyn Erickson of Shevlin, Minn.; his brothers, Edwin Huwe of Aurora, Ill., and Fritz Huwe of Wisconsin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held Friday, March 25, from 5-8 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Runge.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Eric Travieso officiating.

Interment followed in the Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City.

Serving as pallbearers were Donald Huwe, Ronald Huwe, James Huwe, Royce Pargmann, Fermin Tamez, and Gilbert Garza. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Davenport and all the friends who came to visit Clarence during his illness.
