The Texas Crime Stoppers program is offering a $7,500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of a Valley man who is a known gang member and is wanted by two law enforcement agencies. All tips are anonymous.

Ernesto Alonso Garcia, 28, whose last known address was in Edinburg, is a Texas Syndicate member wanted for murder and aggravated assault by the Harlingen Police Department and marijuana trafficking by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

On March 11 in Harlingen, police allege Garcia stabbed two men; one of the men died as a result of his injuries. Murder and aggravated assault warrants were issued in the case. Garcia has a prior history of violent behavior with other convictions for assault, and is considered armed and dangerous.

Garcia has 96 aliases and goes by two nicknames: Rooster and Gallito. “Garcia” is tattooed across his back. It is possible Garcia drives a gray 2000 Pontiac Firebird with Texas license plate Z45 LHZ. He is a Mexican citizen and legally resides in the U.S. as a permanent resident.

To find out more about Garcia, please see his DPS Most Wanted poster:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/wanted/topTenFugitives.htm#;view=Details/fugitive=5.

Texas Crime Stoppers offers rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

∑ Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).

∑ Text the letters DPS--followed by your tip--to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.

∑ Submit a tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture to submit a web tip.

All calls, texts or e-mails are anonymous.

For more information on specific fugitives or the crimes they are accused of, please contact the local police agency in the area where the fugitive was last seen.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives featured on the Texas Top 10 Most Wanted list. You can find the current list--with photos--on the DPS website at http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/wanted . The list is updated as needed.
