Help Wanted

First Lutheran Church in Floresville is seeking a Director of Youth and Family Ministry, part-time 20 hours/week. Qualifications: Have active worship life and ongoing growth in faith, understanding of Lutheran-Christian tradition, ability to work with both adults and youth, basic computer and organizational skills. Director will disciple both parents and youth grades 1-12, establish appropriate caring relationships with youth, seek opportunities to connect with youth in their environment on their schedule, organize parents into groups for children's ministry work, arrange at least 3 annual local events or trips for Sr. high youth, recruit and encourage youth and adults to take positions of shared leadership and involvement, create and implement means for regular communication with parents and youth, manage youth and family ministry calendar in collaboration with staff, parents, and youth. Stockdale tennis takes home trophies

STOCKDALE -- The tennis teams in Stockdale have been busy lately. The high school junior varsity team hosted a tournament March 22, the junior high school team hosted a tournament March 26, and in between, the varsity team was busy cleaning up titles at the Hallettsville Varsity Tennis Tournament March 24.

In high school varsity play, the team from Stockdale looked great in Hallettsville.

Landon Coston and Tristan Marquez won the consolation division in boys doubles, Gabriella Salazar and Dylan Dunn were overall champions in mixed doubles, and Jordan Jackson captured the boys singles championship as well.

During the junior varsity tournament, Anthony Bennett and Jacob Cardenas each advanced to the second round of boys singles play. Vanessa Bustamante and Shannon Freasier played into the first round of girls doubles, as did the team of Kat Wehmeyer and Shelly Oltmanns. Perry Bone and Tyler Middleton played into the first round of consolation in boys doubles.

The players from Stockdale Junior High cleaned house during their tournament, as they were sure to keep several of the first-place trophies at home.

In seventh-grade boys singles play, Alex Vela finished first for Stockdale. Vela then teamed with Travis Covington to finish first in seventh-grade boys doubles.

Allison Maxwell finished second in eighth-grade girls singles, Frank Flores reached the consolation semifinals in eighth-grade boys singles, and Frank Gay and Fabyan Ortiz finished fourth in eighth-grade boys doubles.
