I agree with Alvin (again!), however, it was the president who refused to allow Planned Parenthood to be defunded. If it was such a small thing, why was it such a big deal to the president? That argument goes both ways.

Its amazing that a debate about the deficit got turned into an abortion conversation. A great example of why we're in a fiscal mess.

You have to be smart enough to not allow your politicians to distract you with shiney objects. If planned parenthood is offensive to you, great, get your politician to shut it down straight up and honest- but it is not a factor in the deficit debate. Be honest about what our goals are and stop the stupidity.

We need tax reform and fiscal restraint, to the tune of trillions- if you let a politician turn this into a social debate about a few million- youre being duped. Stick to the target, debate social issues as social issues, debate fiscal issues as fiscal issues- dont let welfare creep into the tax system, dont let social programs cloud budget debates.

We are broke, it has little to do with planned parenthood, insist your politicians stop treating you like an idiot and force them to tackle the problem. Dont take the bait.

The difference is that the "other 73%" are not paid for by taxpayers and particularly tax payers that believe abortion is a form of cold bloodied murder and one of the worst imagineable sins on the books. I don't believe anyone on here is saying anything other than they don't believe that taxpayers should have to foot the bill for s l u t s and h o s and stupid teenagers who have zero responsibility and not even enough responsibility to pay for their own abortions.

And, the Guttmacher Folk have been hauled up in front of Congress and been the object of so many lawsuits that I've lost count...that would be similar to the Prisoners for Pedophilia lobbying to get more baby sitter jobs from Government run Daycare centers.

Why not find a GAO report or other peer-to-peer reviewed report to cite. Just another senior fellow from a liberal organization writing an opinion.
How about this article: "According to the Guttmacher Institute, which studies and advocates on issues related to reproductive health, 1.2 million legal abortions were performed in the United States in 2008. Institute spokeswoman Rebecca Wind told us the institute doesn’t break down which groups provide abortions, but stand-alone clinics provide more abortions than all U.S. Planned Parenthood clinics combined. By our accounting, about 27 percent of abortions in the U.S. are performed at Planned Parenthood clinics versus 73 percent at other medical facilities.

Bottom line...I don' much care what most people do if they don't bother me or get in my way. But, being irresponsible and getting pregnant IS getting in my way 'cause there is another helpless human being involved...I'd be OK with abortions if Mommies waited until the fetus is 18 years old and get their permission to abort...and, if they're ok with that, then I'm ok. But, to kill a tiny human being who is defenseless is one of the acts that God had in mind when prophets and Jesus mentioned unforgiveable sins and hell all in the same sentence. And, to use any type of funds that are contributed by people (taxes) that oppose abortion is just outright wrong. And, almost everyone these days knows about all there is to know to prevent pregnancies but some disregard all of the information available and get pregnant anyway. And, I pretty much feel the same way about contraceptives at government expense....you want to diddle in the back seat of Poppa's '49 Chevy, then you pay for your own contraceptive and if you get pregnant, do the right thing and have the kid and give it up for adoption 'cause obviously anyone that irresponsible would make a horrible parent.

My sincere apologies, Fourth Generation, you are totally correct. It's only "Just the Facts" as a 'nom de plume' implies one is dealing with a person that wants facts, not opinions, and stops reading facts (such as the fact that 97% of Planned Parenthood's budget is for abortions), they stop reading and go to their own opinion. My observation is 'Just the Facts' is that he/ she/ whoever does NOT want actual facts when it goes against their opinion, and called me out personally. And as I tell my adult kids when they don't like facts, if you don't want my peaches, don't shake my tree ;-)
