Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Josefa Antuna Becerra, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 3:49 a.m. in the Pecan Valley Healthcare in San Antonio at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 15 days. She was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Durango, Mexico, to Augustine and Susanna Soriano Antuna. Josefa married the Rev. Jose M. Becerra, who preceded her in death in September 1990. Josefa was a member of Templo El Horeb.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her infant daughter, Lydia Ester Becerra; her daughter, Ruth Martinez; her sons, Alfredo Becerra and Adabel Becerra; her grandson, Gary Martinez; her sister, Felipa Tejerina; and her brothers, Macario Antuna, Jose Antuna, and Manuel Antuna.

Josefa is survived by her sons, Ismael Becerra Sr. and wife Delmira, and Jose M. Becerra Jr. and wife Benigna; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Benancio Antuna, Daniel Antuna, Abel Antuna, and George Antuna.

A visitation was held on Friday, April 8, at 5 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastor Norma Ramirez officiating.

Interment followed in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Richard J. Martinez Jr., Ismael Becerra Jr., Joey Becerra III, Pete Martinez Jr., Abel Becerra Jr., and Alfredo Becerra Jr.
