The La Vernia Lady Bears capped off another stellar season by winning their 11th consecutive district track and field team title -- the longest current varsity district wining streak in the LVISD athletic program. Over that time period, the program has averaged a whopping 249 points at district, and a 136.8-point margin of victory over its nearest competitors.

“Our athletes truly embrace the ‘team’ concept,” said Coach Richard Hinojosa. “Our strength has always been a strong work ethic, and this season was no different. We were honored to represent our school and community.”

Traditional track and field powers Cuero, Yoakum, Sam Houston, and Gonzales were no match for the Lady Bears, who outscored their nearest competitor by 97 points. The team won nine events, were second in two, and third in six more.

The junior varsity team was equally as impressive with its 13th consecutive district title.
