Offer condolences

Elvira G. Salas passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 70 years, 7 months, and 15 days. She was born in Floresville on Aug. 28, 1940, to Juan B. Salas and Ricarda Gonzales and spent her entire life in Floresville. She was a member of El Mesias United Methodist Church in Floresville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Steven Salas; and her great-grandson, Isiah Rivera.

Elvira is survived by her husband, Benito Ontiveros; her daughters, Mary Esther Salas and Sandra Ann and husband Leandro Jr., all of Floresville; her sons, Robert S. and wife Iris Barrera of Floresville, and Teresa and Benito Ontiveros Jr. of Austin; her brothers, Daniel, Marcos Jr., and Moses Jr., all of Floresville, Juan Salas Jr. of Saspamco, Robert Salas of San Jose, Calif., Jose Alfredo Salas of Floresville, and Raymond Salas of San Jose, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday, April 15, from 5-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in El Mesias United Methodist Church in Floresville, with the Rev. Francisco Javier Briones officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Lucas Ontiveros, Ben Casey Ontiveros, Robert Barrera III, Richard Talamantez, Johnathan Rodriguez, Daniel Jacob Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez Jr., and Hernando Rodriguez Jr.
