East Central FFA achieves success
The East Central FFA traveled to the Texas State Contest March 25 with three teams.
The Livestock Judging Team placed fifth with Holden Black, 11th place; Haily Marshall, 15th place; Frank Aniol, Ty Baird, Kaylee Reed, Jessica Berry, and Zachary Williams.
The Poultry Evaluation Team placed second with Kyle Brown, 45th place; Jared Pieniazek, 11th place; Evan Pieniazek, sixth place; Bethany Mihalec, Emeleigh Geistweidt, and Stephenie Geistweidt.
The Ag Sales Team placed 11th with Shelbie Thames, 13th place; Heather Kosub, and Alexis Wagner.
The collective performance of the East Central FFA earned the chapter a $1,000 scholarship to Texas State University as the sweepstakes winner. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be attending Texas State University in the fall as an agriculture major.
On March 24, the East Central FFA competed at Tarleton State University.
The Dairy Cattle Team placed 26th with members Matthew Alexander, Amy Moran, Todd Bettice, and Stephenie Geistweidt.
The Meats Evaluation Team placed third with team members Michael Moczygemba, eighth place; Jordan Hevner, Aaron Maron, Ciera Gawlik, and Shelbi Knox.
During the practice contest at Texas A&M University, a special event was held to honor Dr. Krueger, the W.F. Krueger Memorial Invitational Poultry Contest.
The Poultry Team placed fourth with members Kyle Brown, fifth place; Bethany Mihalec, Evan Pieniazek, Jared Pieniazek, Emeleigh Geistweidt, and Stephenie Geistweidt.
At the Sam Houston State University competition, the Ag Sales Team placed sixth with team members Alexis Wagner, Heather Kosub, ninth place; and Shelbie Thames, fourth place.
All of these teams will be competing at the various Area and State contests in the coming weeks.
