Pond Management Field Day is April 27
Wilson, Karnes, Guadalupe, Bexar, and Atascosa counties will sponsor a Pond Management Field Day on Wednesday, April 27.
The event will be held in the Falls City Community Hall for registration at 1 p.m. and the tour will start promptly at 1:30 p.m.
We will travel to Rio Grande Resources between Hobson and Panna Maria and stop at two large ponds. Jon Herrmann of Hermann’s Fish Farm will sample the first pond and discuss management techniques for the pond based on the sample. He will then cover management techniques for ponds in South Texas. Larry Stark of the Natural Resource Conservation Service will discuss proper pond construction and pond assistance programs that are available.
At the second pond, Shane Kiefer and Kasey Moch of Plateau Land & Wildlife Management will discuss the wildlife and recreational aspects of ponds and how to design ponds to fit those needs.
The pond field day will conclude at approximately 5 p.m. Three CEUs will be offered at this event. 1 General CEU, 1 IPM CEU, and 1 Laws & Reg. CEU will be offered. There will be a $10 registration fee for this program.
