Dora Lopez Castro, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 18, 2011, at 11:45 a.m. in her residence in Floresville at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

Dora was born May 6, 1923, in Wilson County to John O. and Jesusa Ximenez Lopez. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville. Dora enjoyed volunteering with the Wilson County Food Bank.

Dora married Carlos Castro Sr., who preceded her in death.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Dora Ann Castro Wilson; her son-in-law, Charles Wilson; and her brothers and sister, Ben Lopez, Aurora Lopez Salazar, John Lopez, Mike Lopez, and Alex Lopez.

She is survived by her children, Carlos Castro Jr. and wife Delfina of San Antonio, Matilda Velasquez and husband Joe of Pleasanton, Mary Evenglina Coronado and husband Pedro of Floresville, Frank Edward Castro and wife Brijia V. of Houston, and John Castro and wife Mary A. of Floresville; her sister, Ernestina Wright of San Antonio; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, April 19, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Kellner, Benito Lopez, Jose Velasquez, John Wilson, Martin Villanueva, and Jimmy Lopez Jr.
