Claro Gomez Gonzales, a longtime resident of Poth, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 18, 2011, at 3:51 a.m. in the Regency Manor nursing home in Floresville at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 6 days.

Claro was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Nell to Francisco “Pancho” Gomez and Felicita Garcia Gonzales. Claro married Otilia Garza on July 6, 1985, in Poth.

Claro was a farmer and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth. He was a musician, who mainly played the accordion.

Claro is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Otilia Garza Gonzales of Poth; his daughter, Juanita Muños and husband Juan of Pawnee; his stepchildren, Carlos Sanchez and wife Debbie of Houston, Olivia Sanchez of Universal City, and Robert Sanchez and wife Jamie of Houston; his brother, Geronimo Gonzales of Beeville; his grandchildren, Monica Cortez and husband Pete of Pawnee, Juan Muños Jr. and wife Roxanne of San Marcos, Theresa Muños, and Isabell Muños, both of Pawnee; his great-grandchildren, Desaree Ochoa, Deven Ochoa, Nevaeh Ochoa, and Jayden Bermudez, all of Pawnee, and Juan Muños III of San Marcos; his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Sanchez and Joshua Sanchez, both of Universal City, and Carlos Sanchez Jr. of Houston; and his stepgreat-grandchild, Jake Sanchez of Universal City.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, April 19, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the church with Father Grzegorz Szewczyk officiating.

Interment followed in the Nell Cemetery in Live Oak County.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Sanchez, Juan Muños Jr., Pete Cortez, Carlos Sanchez, Jason Garza, and Greg Garza III.
