The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) recently sponsored the Louie the Lightning Bug Coloring Contest in elementary schools across the GVEC service area. Louie visited with 2,400 second-grade students in 33 elementary schools. The “Louie” program, which is designed to educate second-graders about electrical safety while they are having fun, has proven to be a successful teaching tool for the electric cooperative.

The contest winners from Stockdale Elementary School are Seth Darilek and Isabella Rodriguez. Louie the Lightning Bug personally delivered glow-in-the-dark T-shirts, wristwatches, and GVEC caps to the lucky winners of his annual electrical safety coloring contest.
