Wilson County AgriLife Extension Service Agent Dennis Hale is the recipient of the Outstanding Beef County Extension Agent award. He was presented with the award during the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) annual convention in early April in San Antonio.

Hale has more than 15 years of experience working as a Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent in Karnes and Wilson counties and has provided leadership for beef cattle programs in both counties for more than 12 years.

During the convention, the TSCRA also awarded Matador Ranch with the 2010 Outstanding Rangeland Stewardship award. The 130,000-acre working cattle ranch covers parts of Motley, Cottle, Dickens, Floyd, and Crosby counties.

The Texas Section of the Society for Range Management/TSCRA Outstanding Rangeland Stewardship Award is an opportunity for TSCRA to partner with a scientific society to honor TSCRA members who are expending remarkable efforts to improve and manage range and pasture lands and the resources, livestock, and wildlife the lands support.

Featured speakers at this year’s convention included Texas District 23 U.S. Rep. Francisco “Quico” Canseco, keynote speaker Dennis Avery, and Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Elizabeth Ames Jones.
