On March 15, the Floresville Junior FFA team participated in the Houston Livestock Judging contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. There were a total of 1,222 junior and senior participants.

McClaine Pawelek was second high point individual in the junior division and also placed 12th high point individual in both senior and junior divisions, earning a calf scramble certificate for next year’s show. McClaine was also second high point at the Floresville judging contest that was held in February. McClaine is the 13-year-old daughter of Scott and Laurie Pawelek.

The junior team, which consists of Cade Burks, Zoey Wiatrek, Payton Meuth, and McClaine Pawelek, have done very well this year. They placed 11th out of 105 teams in San Antonio and placed ninth out of 140 teams in Houston. The junior FFA team is coached by Mark Jarzombek.
