The second annual Stevens School reunion was held on April 16, 2011, in the old Webbville School site, which is now owned by Roger Mills, a former student of Stevens and Webbville schools.

The Stevens School was located 9 miles west of Floresville on S.H. 97 and the Webbville School was located on F.M. 2505, 1 mile north of the old Stevens School.

Therefore, it was truly like “going home” again.

When the Webbville School closed in 1950, those attending were transferred to the Stevens School until 1956, at which time all the smaller country schools in the area were consolidated with either Floresville or Poth schools.

The Stevens School was in existence from 1950 to 1956 and the teachers who taught there were remembered as Mrs. Signa Bundrick, Mrs. Elenor Crain, Ms. Edith Hayden, and Principal Dain Higdon.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Hubert Mills and his wife, Carol. In some ways, it was as though time had stood still as everyone reminisced about childhood memories and the affection everyone felt toward each other back then, and that same love and affection is still present today.

It was agreed that, although those were tough times, we still feel so blessed to have lived in those days and thankful for the lifelong friendships we will always cherish.

We plan to have our third Stevens Reunion in late April of 2012!
