POTEET -- Cowboy Fellowship is hosting one of the most unique sporting events in the history of Atascosa County as part of its eighth anniversary celebration. On Saturday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m., the crowd at the Poteet Lions Club Arena will participate in a night of pure excitement sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Matador Enrique Delgado, known as the Cyclone of Monterrey, will fight three bulls in a series of bloodless bullfights. In-between fights, the audience will experience a freestyle bullfighting competition.

Freestyle bullfighting is a 70-second competition in which the bullfighter avoids the bull by means of dodging, jumping, and use of a barrel. American freestyle bullfighter Evan Allard is supplying bulls for the freestyle event, and will be on hand this Saturday.

Allard said he always wanted to be a bullfighter. In just a few years, Allard has become one of the premier athletes in freestyle bullfighting, and was the 2009 and 2010 Thunder Equigames Champion.

The bullfighting takes place this Saturday, May 7, in Poteet. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.; seating is first-come, first-served; and parking is free. Admission is $5 per person for those 10 and up. No alcohol or ice chests will be allowed, but a concession stand will be available during the show.

For more information, call 830-769-3733 or visit www.cowboyfellowship.org.
