Tigers to face Burbank Bulldogs in playoffs

The Floresville Tigers’ regular season came to an end last Friday evening, as they fell to the Victoria West Warriors by a 6-4 score. The Tigers had already clinched a playoff spot the previous week as they defeated Port Lavaca by the score of 4-2.
The Tigers will face the Burbank Bulldogs in the bi-district round this week in a best two-out-of-three series starting this Thursday, May 5. The first game is scheduled for the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) Sports Complex at 7 p.m. Game two will be in Floresville on Friday, May 6, at 6 p.m. If necessary, a third game will be will be held in the SAISD Sports Complex on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m.
Tiger fans are encouraged to go out and support their hometown team in their bi-district series against Burbank.
In the Tigers’ win over Port Lavaca, Izaiah Guerrero pitched a no-hitter after getting off to a slow start in the contest. Guerrero walked five Sandcrab batters in the first two innings as Port Lavaca scored two runs. The Sandcrabs did not have another base runner from the third inning to the top of the seventh inning, as Guerrero also came up with 13 strikeouts in the contest. With the great pitching performance on the mound, the Tigers also received some timely hits to come up with the victory.
The Tigers scored their first run of the game in the third inning as Garrett Pollok reached base on a single. Pollok moved to third base on a single by Micah Clements and scored on an error after a hard hit by Robert Silva. The Tigers went ahead in the fifth inning as Jonathan Parker hit a triple and scored on Micah Clements’ RBI single. Micah Clements came around to score on Silva’s double. In the sixth inning, Cole Allen came up with a double to start the inning. Marcus Greer, the courtesy runner for Allen, came around to score on a passed ball and a wild pitch.
Leading the Tiger batters in the contest were Parker with a triple, a single, and 1 run scored; Micah Clements, two singles, one RBI, and 1 run scored; Silva, a double, two RBIs, and reached base twice on errors; Pollok, a single and 1 run scored; Allen, a double; Drew Clements, a single and a walk; Sam Bryant reached base on an error; and Greer scored 1 run.
