CORPUS CHRISTI -- After a strong showing at the Region IV Class 3A track and field meet last week, the La Vernia Lady Bears team is the regional runner-up for the second time in three years. La Vernia had a great showing in Corpus Christi, and will send several athletes to the state meet in Austin this week. The Bear track and field team was also in action, and it, too, will send a group of athletes to the state meet. . . .
