Register for summer camps
Registration for the Boys and Girls Club Summer Recreational Program will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Jack’s Café, located at 507 10th St. (U.S. 181) in Floresville.
The swim team accepts children who can swim one lap unassisted. Times of practice will be every Tuesday and Friday morning starting on June 6 and going into the month of July. Cost to participate is $60 per child. Scholarships are available based on need.
The basketball program accepts children starting at 5 years old. The six-week program begins on Thursday, June 16. All games are Thursday evenings. Practice schedules are for the coaches to decide. Each child must provide a basketball. Cost to participate is $45 per child. Members receive a $5 discount.
Summer day camp will be held in the Floresville Community Convention Center from Monday, June 6, through Friday, July 1, and then Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 12, from 1-6 p.m. The camp is for children ages 5-13. This year’s theme is “Come Explore the Seven Continents with Boys and Girls Club.” Cost to participate for the first child is $15 per day, the second child is $10 per day, and $8 for any child thereafter in the same family. All drop-ins will be $25 per day. A $5 discount will be given for the first child if enrolled in other summer programs.
Every week, participants will learn about different continents, theater arts, container gardening, sewing and cooking, science, and much more.
Mini camps will be held for children ages 7-15 in the Floresville River Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost to participant is $50 per child.
The mini camps will feature flag football, take your own football; boys baseball and girls softball, take your own bat and glove; and volleyball, take your own kneepads and ball.
Optional mini classes are self-defense, social dancing, and drawing and cost $20 per week.
The Texas Cheer Academy will hold cheerleading and tumbling classes. The classes cost $5 per week. Visit www.txcheeracademy. com for more information.
“Dinosaur George” Blashing will speak on paleontology and animal behavioral studies on Tuesday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m. in the Floresville Community Convention Center. Admission is free for children.
