AUSTIN -- After winning the district and regional tournaments, Jordan Jackson, a sophomore at Stockdale High School, headed to Austin for the state tennis tournament May 9-10 at Lakeway World of Tennis.

In the first round, Jackson defeated Laramie Linn of Kountze 6-1, 6-3. Jackson followed that with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the semifinals over Tyson Turnbow of Muleshoe.

The finals were held on Tuesday morning, and Jackson played a good match, but fell to Jesse Guerra of Tornillo by the score of 6-2, 6-2. Jordan ended a great year of tennis by finishing second in the state and earning a silver medal.

Stockdale High School Tennis Coach Lester Jackson said he was very proud, as both a coach and a father to Jordan.
