Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Arturo Valdez Ximenez Sr., a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 4:30 a.m. in his residence in Floresville at the age of 74 years and 22 days.

Arturo was born April 9, 1937, in Floresville to Pedro and Beatrice Valdez Ximenez. He was an adult foster care provider for many years and enjoyed gardening, yard work, and dancing. Arturo especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He married Guadalupe Mendez on May 4, 1968, in Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Eustacio Ximenez, Pete Ximenez, and Trinidad Ximenez.

Arturo is survived by his loving wife of 43 years on May 4, Guadalupe Ximenez; his son, Arthur Ximenez Jr. and wife Stephanie; his daughter, Mary Jane Ximenez; his grandchildren, Marcos Gamboa, Kaitlyn Ximenez, Adrianna Ximenez, Allyssa Ximenez, and Arthur Ximenez III; his sister, Mary Ximenez; and his brothers, Rudy Ximenez and Jose “Chito” Ximenez.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, May 4, at 4 p.m. and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were his son, Arthur Ximenez Jr.; his

grandson, Marcos Gamboa; his godsons, Stephen Trinidad and Carlos Lerma; and Ronnie Guevara, Eric Rodriguez, and Michael Barrera.

Serving as honorary pallbearer was his best friend, Vicente Rodriguez Sr.
